Image check

Alt tags describe images for users with disabilities and for search engines. Google uses alt text to index images and understand page context. Without alt text, an image is less useful for SEO.

Depends on the use case. For previews, use tens of KB. For full-size photos, use 100–300 KB after compression. Images larger than 500 KB should be optimized. Use WebP or AVIF for smaller file sizes at the same quality.

WebP produces smaller files at the same quality. PNG is for graphics with transparency. JPEG is for photos without transparency. We recommend using WebP with a JPEG/PNG fallback for older browsers.

For purely decorative images, use an empty alt="". This tells screen readers that the image can be skipped. Don't use descriptive alt text for decorative elements.
